   ACER PALMATUM " ATROPURPUREUM" Red Leafed Japanese Maple Hardy to zone 5  These red leafed Maples are grown from seed  and have a bright red leaf that fades somewhat as fall approaches. They make a good specimen tree for a small area. They need a sheltered , preferably eastern exposure in the north. Hardiest of the Palmatum.
