Description
Butterfly Bush (Buddleia davidii) is a woody shrub that can grow eight to ten feet tall or taller, though in cooler regions it often dies back to the ground in the winter. It’s a super easy to grow shrub that attracts hummingbirds and butterflies by the million with its large, fragrant flowers. It is also resistant to deer, salt, drought, heat, and humidity, making it a crowd pleasing, easy-going shrub for any gardener. Butterfly bush respond best to spring pruning. They can be cut back to 1-2′ above ground level.
Buddleia davidii is originally native to Tibet and south-central China.
