Description
The Chinese Lacebark Elm (Ulmus parvifolia) is native to China, Korea, and Japan. It is one of the most popular trees for bonsai growers. Known for its hardiness, it is a great tree for beginning bonsai growers. Other popular uses for the lacebark elm are as an ornamental or shade tree.
The best feature of this tree is its unique bark. When the tree is mature, the grayish brown bark will flake and bits of green, brown, orange and tan will become visible. It thrives in areas that are moist, with rich loamy soil. Adaptable to many conditions though and it will grow fine in urban areas.
