Description
A cross between the Korean fir and the balsam fir, the Korean x Balsam is fairly new hybrid. It has become popular as an ornamental and a Christmas tree. It is smaller in stature than the balsam fir but does grow larger than the Korean fir. Grown from orchard collected seed.
Often grown in yards and parks, it has beautiful shiny needles that are dark green in color with two white stripes on the underneath of the needle. The cones that it produces are cylindrical in shape, like balsam fir cones, 3-4″ in length and are dark purple in color maturing to brown. They grow upright, like other fir cones.
