Description

Engelmann spruce is a pyramidal evergreen that adapts well to eastern conditions and will grow in northern exposures. Does well in moist clay to loamy soils.  This spruce has slender, straight to slightly curved needles, varying from bluish-green to steel-blue, 1/2″ to 1″ long.  Bears cones at maturity of 1-1/2″ to 3″ long.  Slow growing, it does not stand hot drying winds.  Makes a beautiful ornamental planting or a Christmas tree.
